WWII veteran The MAB's C-53 rolled off the Douglas assembly line in Santa-Monica, California, in June 1943, crossing the Atlantic immediately to the Mediterranean theatre of operations, where it took part in the airdrops for the men of the 82nd Airborne near Salerno.
